The "bait n switch" is not cool.
This has happened to me twice in the past month.
Companies are getting desperate for revenue.
This is when poor business ethics come to the surface.
They struggle to acquire new customers, so they price gouge.
The plan you signed up for included XYZ, but now only includes X.
Or the plan you signed up for no longer exists and to renew you must shift to a new plan that forces a higher price point.
This is short-sighted growth strategy.
The second these customers get a chance to jump ship, they will.
Legacy customers are the backbone of SaaS.
Treat them as important as they are.
Stop changing the deal after they signed up.
This only creates demand for competition.
Not cool.
The most frustrating part of this is that I was never notified of these changes and had to find out the hard way that things stopped working after they auto-renewed my plan (which was changed to not include what I signed up for).
Show loyalty to your customers and they show the same in return.
Piss them off, and they do the same in return with the inevitable churn request.
