Don't Sell from the Poolside
Aug 25, 2024I'm not a savage leader.
I've never fired people for savage reasons.
But if I employ remote workers...
And they login to a meeting from the pool, beach, or anywhere that's not a quiet and private location.
They'd get one warning and the second time they'd be dismissed from their role.
Working remote is supposed to alleviate commute time.
It doesn't mean pretending to work from an adult playground.
Have a home office or go into the company office.
Those are the two options.
Otherwise it's a stretch to call it work.
I've heard this said before and it couldn't be more true; if you're not using an external mouse, keyboard, and monitor, you're not really working. Laptops are for leisure.
To be clear, if you're making yourself available during non-working hours from public locations in effort to close deals, this makes sense.
What doesn't make sense is attempting to run your daily sales routine from public places like the poolside, beach, or Starbucks.
Great sales results require a dedicated sales process and daily routine, and this will always be best done from a desk in a quiet and private location.
Happy Selling,
