The Value of Learning Sales Skills
Jul 28, 2024"You'll never be worse at anything after having learned how to sell."
That's what I said to all 300+ salespeople I've hired on their first day of training.
Why?
Because many people get into sales since they didn't know what else to do.
Rather than allowing them to distract themselves worrying and wondering if they made the right choice getting into sales, I allowed them to let go of that worry for 1 year.
"Stay at this job for a minimum of 1 year and whether you end up loving or hating it, you'll be better at every single thing you do after this because you learned how to sell."
That's why sales is the greatest profession in the world, period.
Setting this as a foundation in training allows you to bring it up as a reminder any time a new salesperson is getting discouraged, questioning their decision, or losing sight of their ultimate goal, which is to build a career.
Until someone has truly set their eyes on an alternate career path, they can improve their odds at anything by continuing to hone their sales skills.
Usually they end up staying in sales, but if not, at least they'll know how to pitch themselves into their new chosen industry more effectively than their competition.
