Stop Writing Long Sales Emails Now
Oct 25, 2024Hey Salespeople, stop writing long emails.
Especially cold outbound emails.
1. Ask your question in the subject line
2. Keep the body of the email short
3. Provide a calendar link for scheduling
The only time it makes sense to send a long email in sales is when the prospect specifically requested it.
Otherwise they won't read it.
Less is more.
Shorter is better.
The objective isn't to have an entire conversation from A to Z.
The objective is to start a conversation.
Questions are the best way to start conversations.
It may feel lazy but the more effort your email takes to write, the more effort it takes to read.
No one has the desire to read your 7 paragraph pitch.
It's best to focus your emails on the problem your product/service solves rather than the product or service itself.
Don't assume your prospect has the problem you solve and even if they clearly do, don't assume they acknowledge it.
Your objective should be to make them aware of a problem and attempt to align on whether or not they're experiencing that problem.
From there the meetings will schedule themselves when you find the right people who have and acknowledge the problem you can solve.
Happy Selling,
