Sales Quota Attainment Is on the Rise
Oct 23, 2024Average sales quota attainment is on the rise.
Average sales leadership tenure is on the rise.
Average deal size is on the rise.
Average people think this is a good sign.
Wise people zoom out to see the big picture.
1. Average quota attainment should go up after multiple years of downsizing and laying off the bottom half of teams.
2. Average leadership tenure should go up after the financial markets squeeze out the bottom performing companies and swallow up the rest through mergers and acquisitions.
3. Average deal size should increase after multiple years of inflation resulting in price increases. This is basic math, inflation leads to price increases which leads to larger deal sizes.
Average KPI's always improve after squeezing junk out of the system.
It's why companies fire bottom performers; it creates an immediate improvement in average KPI's.
We've just seen this take place industry wide.
Don't get too excited, it's still a sh*t show out there.
Another example of "data can tell whatever story you want it to".
It's so important to keep your eye on the big picture in today's world because data can literally tell many stories.
Apply logic and common sense and think of everything like a game of dominoes to backtrack and see what led to the changes being discussed.
All of these recent announcements of improved KPI's should've been anticipated by every leader in the industry.
It's worrisome how many still don't comprehend these things logically.
Happy Selling,
